 Trauma-Informed Yoga For Processing Trauma

Trauma-Informed yoga (TIY) is used in studios, clinical settings, and even the Veterans Hospitals. TIY is a resource for people who are on a healing journey.

Trauma-informed yoga is a type of yoga that is designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma. It is a gentle and supportive practice that focuses on creating a safe and nurturing environment for healing. Some of the benefits of trauma-informed yoga include reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, improving sleep, and increasing feelings of self-awareness and self-compassion. By practicing trauma-informed yoga, individuals can learn to connect with their bodies in a safe and supportive way, which can help them to heal from past traumas and move forward in their lives.

TIY is beneficial to people who are suffering from PTSD, depression, and anxiety along with other mental health disorders. There is a strong emphasis on regulating emotions and releasing trapped emotions stored in the body at the molecular level. Practicing body awareness, somatic experiences, breathwork, and poses that target the areas that house the most trauma are key to TIY.  A TIY class or private session focuses on the somatic process rather than mastering poses. This allows students to reconnect with their mind and body, relieving them of dissociation. Through this process, students can calm their sympathetic system, where they are often stuck, and stimulate their parasympathetic system.

I offer all of my classes and private sessions via Zoom. This allows me to reach people all across the country. Another added benefit to virtual classes is complete anonymity. Students always have the option to turn their video off which gives them privacy in their own home to release any emotions that may arise. It is important to me that I have a connection with all of my students. I start my sessions 15 minutes early for anyone who wants to log in and ask questions before class starts. I also stay after class for those who would like to discuss their experience.

I would love for you to learn more about what I do and what a TYI class looks like. I have set aside the 1st Monday of every month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. MST to teach a complementary class to clinicians, practitioners, and holistic health providers. I'm flexible on this time so please contact me if you would like an alternate class time.

Please email me to register, receive a Zoom link, and sign a consent and liability waiver.
